วันหนึ่งมีคนเข้ามาตัดกิ่งไม้ ขุดรากของปู่ต้นไม้ใหญ่กลางป่า แล้วเอาขึ้นรถบรรทุกไปไว้ที่ลานกลางหมูบ้าน นกป่าที่เคยอาศัยร่มเงาของปู่ต้นไม้จึงบินตามไปด้วยและอยู่เป็นเพื่อนปู่ จนกระทั่งใบสุดท้ายร่วงหล่น
Someone came to chop the branches and dig up the roots of the large ancient tree amid the forest one day. Then they loaded him onto the truck and took him to the village square. The wild birds who used to reside in the great tree’s shade flew with him and stayed with him till the final leaf fell.

ปรีดา ปัญญาจันทร์ เป็นนักเขียนและนักวาดภาพประกอบที่ได้รับรางวัลเกี่ยวกับหนังสือเด็กมากมาย ปัจจุบันเป็นอาจารย์พิเศษสอนวิชาวรรณกรรมเด็กในสถาบันอุดมศึกษาต่างๆ และเป็นวิทยากรอบรมครู สร้างสื่อการสอนด้วยศิลปะ
Preeda Punyachand is an award-winning author and illustrator of numerous children’s books. He is currently a particular instructor teaching children’s literature in many universities and is a lecturer for the teaching training course. He uses art to produce instructional materials.
