วันที่ ๒๓ ตุลาคมของทุกปีเป็นวันปิยมหาราช ที่มีความสำคัญมิใช่เพียง เพราะเป็นวันคล้ายวันสวรรคตของพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว (รัชกาลที่ ๕) เท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นวันที่คนไทยจะได้ร่วมรำลึกถึงพระราชกรณียกิจที่พระองค์ทรงทำนุบำรุงสร้างความก้าวหน้ามั่นคงแก่แผ่นดินและคนไทยอย่างเหลือคณานับ ตั้งแต่การเลิกทาส การพัฒนาบ้านเมือง ปรับเปลี่ยนระเบียบการปกครองให้ทันสมัย สร้างสาธารณูปโภค การคมนาคม จนถึงการรักษาเอกราชที่ทำให้สยามไม่ต้องตกไปเป็นเมืองขึ้นของกลุ่มประเทศตะวันตกที่ออกล่าอาณานิคม จึงกล่าวได้ว่า ที่บ้านเมืองเราเจริญรุ่งเรืองมาถึงทุกวันนี้ ทุกอย่างดูเหมือนจะมีจุดเริ่มต้นจากพระองค์แทบทั้งสิ้น
กระนั้น ก็ยังมีสิ่งที่เราควรรู้อีกมากว่าตลอดรัชสมัยอันยาวนานของพระองค์ท่านนั้นเกิดอะไรขึ้น และพระองค์ท่านทรงผ่านภาวะแห่งความยากลำบากนั้นอย่างไร จนทำให้สยามประเทศมั่นคงและมั่งคั่งมาจนถึงวันนี้ การนำเสนอพระราชประวัติในรูปแบบการ์ตูนช่องก็เพื่อให้ง่ายต่อการเรียนรู้สำหรับเด็กและเยาวชน เพื่อตระหนักถึงพระมหากรุณาธิคุณอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม ว่าที่เรามีชาติมีแผ่นดินถึงวันนี้เพราะพระองค์ท่านโดยแท้จริง
Every year on October 23rd, Piyamaharaj Day is celebrated. It is significant not only because it commemorates the death of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), but also because it is a day to reminisce about the royal duties that he has fulfilled to ensure steady progress for the country and Thai people: slave liberation, country development, administrative regulation reform to characterize the country as modernization of Siam, public utilities and transportation system forming, along with managing to save Siam from being colonized by western countries. That is to say, it is because of him that our country has grown to be so great.
However, there is indeed much we should know about what happened throughout His Highness’ long reign and how he overcame difficulties to bring Siam to its current position of stability and prosperity. The presenting of royal history in cartoon style makes it easier for children and young people to understand and appreciate His Majesty’s grace concretely since we have a nation and land now due to His Highness.

สละ นาคบำรุง : เกิดเมื่อปีพ.ศ.2504 ที่จังหวัดสุราษณ์ธานี ได้แรงบันดาลใจจากงานของ วัฒนา เพชรสุวรรณ และ จำนูญ เล็กสมทิศ ใน ขายหัวเราะ ไปจนถึงงานของราช เลอสรวง, จุก เบี้ยวสกุล และได้รับการปูพื้นฐานความรู้ทางด้านศิลปะที่ดีจากอาจารย์ เฑียนชัย เลาหกุล ขณะศึกษาอยู่ที่จังหวัดสุราษณ์ธานี เมื่อเข้าศึกษาต่อที่วิทยาลัยเพาะช่าง ทำให้ได้พบกับรุ่นพี่ในแวดวงการ์ตูนรวมทั้ง โอม รัชเวทย์ หลังจบการศึกษาได้รับการชักชวนให้เข้าสู่วงการจากเพื่อนๆ นักเขียนที่ทำงานให้กับนิตยสาร ชัยพฤกษ์ ก่อนเริ่มต้นอาชีพในวงการด้วยการเขียนการ์ตูนเล่มละบาทจากการชักชวนของ อารีเฟน ฮาซะนี ด้วยเรื่อง แนวผี ก่อนจะได้เรียนรู้เทคนิคการวาดเพิ่มเติมจากบรรดาเพื่อนๆ และรุ่นพี่ ในแวดวงนี้ ต่อมาเริ่มทำงานกับ โอม รัชเวทย์ (บ้านเด็กอนิเมชั่นโฮม) รับงานหลากหลายทั้ง ภาพประกอบ ภาพเหมือน งานโฆษณา ไปจนถึงแอนิเมชั่นชุด ตาวิเศษ ของสมาคมสร้างสรรค์ไทย ที่ได้เรียนรู้หลักและวิธีการในการผลิตและสร้างสรรค์แอนิเมชั่นในช่วงตั้งต้นของอาชีพ และมีงานหลากหลายในวงการทั้งชุดการ์ตูนประวัติศาสตร์ชาติไทย ชุดการ์ตูนเทิดไท้องค์ราชันย์ รัชกาลที่ 9 ชุดการ์ตูนพระราชประวัติ นอกจากนี้ยังทำงานโปรดักชั่นรายการทีวี ให้กับ เวิร์คพ้อย อาร์เอส แกรมมี่ สานฟ้า เช่น รายการ คุณพระช่วย พินิจนคร เวทีไทย และเวทีทองที่สร้างภาพปริศนาคำทายที่วาดด้วยลายเส้น แบบมีเอกลักษณ์โดดเด่นเฉพาะตัว
Salah Nakbamrung : Born in 1961 in Surat Thani Province. Wattana Petchsuwan and Chamnoon Leksomthit’s “Kai Hua Roh Comic,” as well as Raj Lersuang and Juk Biewsakul, influenced him. While studying in Surat Thani, he received basic art lessons from Thienchai Laohakul. He attended the Pohchang Academy of Arts, where he met his cartoonist seniors, including Ohm Ratchavet. After graduating, he was urged to engage in the industry by a writer for Chaiyapruek magazine. Arifen Hasan persuaded him to begin his career in the industry by authoring a ghost story comic book before learning additional drawing skills from his colleagues.
Later, he began working at Ohm Ratchawet (Baan Dek Animation Home), where he received a wide range of assignments, including illustrations, portraits, advertising work, and the Thai Creative Society’s animation series “Ta Wiset.” At the start of his work, he learnt the concepts and processes of producing and creating animation from them. He was also given the opportunity to create works such as the Thai national history comic set, a comic series honoring King Rama IX and a Royal History comic set. He also worked on TV shows for Workpoint, RS, Grammy, and Sarnfah, including “Khun Phra Chuay,” “Pinitnakorn,” “Way Tee Thai,” and “Way Tee Tong Kam,” for which he designed the riddle pictures in his own style.
